Thank you Melissa for Queen Stella of Pretty Kitty Ragdolls

Why own a Ragdoll?
Well, the answer to that is easy. Why not? They are intelligent, calm, docile cats who offer unconditional love and are often referred to as "gentle giants". They have medium-long bunny soft fur that matts very little and requires minimal grooming. Females range from 10-15 lbs while males range from 12-20lbs. They are easy to handle and are good with children and other pets. It is often said they posses a puppy-like personality as they crave humans and will often follow you from room to room.
The name "Ragdoll" comes from the way they go limp when picked up like a childs' doll. This breed was first introduced in the early 1960's in California by Ann Baker by breeding a white female Persian to a male Birman. A female Burmese was introduced and the first Ragdoll was created. From here a husband and wife bought a pair and developed these cats into the breed we have today. They practiced extensive selection so this breed could be standardized, shown, and accepted by many associations.
Due to their friendly nature, Ragdolls must be kept inside. If attacked, they will not defend themselves and will most likely go with anyone. They make wonderful apartment pets because they don't need much room and are satisfied with a loving human. We have strict no-claw policy. We stress the importance of our kittens being indoor pets only and highly recommend micro-chipping in case of an accidental escape.
If you are looking for an energetic, independent cat then the Ragdoll is not for you.
